Sleeve Gastrectomy

Doctor measuring the abdominal circumference of a male patient.

A sleeve gastrectomy is a minimally invasive procedure. We use small incisions to remove 80% of the stomach, which creates a smaller, banana or sleeve-shaped stomach that holds significantly less food.

Because you eat less food, you feel full quicker and are able to lose weight.

What to Know

  • Surgery lasts about an hour
  • The surgeon makes several small incisions and uses a stapler to create a smaller stomach
